Jarryd Byrne

Commencing dancing at the age of eight Jarryd has continually strived to improve his dance technique, choreography, fitness and presentation, which has taken him to a high level of achievement in the Amateur ranks of Dancesport competition nationally. He also took interest in Hip Hop from the age of ten, and has continually used his technical understanding of both styles to further his knowledge of dance, rhythm and musicality.

This knowledge & talent has since taken Jarryd to the Top 100 of the popular hit TV show, “So You Think You Can Dance” (Season 1).

At the age of 18 Jarryd placed 3rd at the Australian Open Hip Hop Championships narrowly missing out on the world representative selection. At the same time he continued to compete in Dancesport in both the ballroom and Latin American styles, making the final of numerous National competitions.

Jarryd has since gone on to specialise in Latin American and with his talented dance partner:

Skye Wilson

He has moved to Sydney to advance his training. Since commencing their partnership in January 2006, Jarryd and Skye have succeeded in making the finals and semi-finals in all major Australian competitions. During the 2008 Asian dance tour Jarryd and Skye also achieved a consistent top 3 placing in all 7 finals conducted in Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Macau & Singapore.

In addition, Jarryd recently worked with renowned Australian choreographer Jason Coleman and has performed in his shows throughout Melbourne and also featured in his 2009 New Years show at Crown Casino.

Now a full time teacher and dancer, Jarryd hopes to pass on his knowledge of both Ballroom and Hip Hop styles to the future generations.

Jarryd’s goal is to reach his full potential as a dancer, eventually relocating overseas in pursuit of further international competition experience but ultimately wants to contribute back to the Australian Dance industry that has given them so many opportunities.
